One competitor, one page, facts kept apart from guesses.
A dated one-page teardown of a single rival's offer, price, claims, and wording, built from the public material you paste in.
Competitor research tends to end in a feature grid nobody reads or a hallway story nobody can source. Sales teams repeat guesses as facts, and a document written two years ago still gets trusted.
Competitor Teardown records what the rival sells, to whom, at what price, with what proof and which repeated phrases. Observed facts and your own reading sit in separate columns, the page carries a date and its sources, and a recheck is scheduled.
What it produces.
- →A record of their offer, buyer, and pricing, with the hero line quoted exactly
- →Their three main claims, each marked with visible proof or none
- →A list of things the material does not say
- →A one-page summary with Observed and My Reading kept apart, dated and sourced
- ✦Sales leads who keep meeting the same rival
- ✦Founders entering a market with an established player
- ✦Product marketers refreshing competitor notes each quarter
This Playbook records and organizes facts about one competitor. It does not include a positioning analysis or the stress-test of your chosen move. Steal Like a Strategist is the Tool for that: it reads a rival's marketing for what they are optimizing for and finds positioning moves they cannot easily follow. Competitor Teardown does not do that work.

How is this different from just asking Claude directly?
Asked cold, Claude mixes what it read with what it assumes and writes confident prose about the rival. This keeps observation and inference separate, ties every line to a source you supplied, and adds an honest note on what a buyer might like about them.
How is this different from a Tool?
Playbooks are systematically produced to a fixed template and priced accordingly ($12.99). Tools are hand-built, one at a time, and go deeper ($39 to $199). A Playbook gives you a reliable method for routine work; a Tool is for when the judgment matters more than the format. This Playbook records and organizes facts about one competitor. Steal Like a Strategist is the Tool for that: it reads a rival's marketing for what they are optimizing for and finds positioning moves they cannot easily follow. Competitor Teardown does not do that work.
Will this work with ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLMs?
Yes. You get a native Claude Skill (.zip) that auto-invokes in Claude, plus a plain .md you can paste into a ChatGPT Custom GPT, a Gemini system prompt, or any LLM. The procedure travels with the file.
Can I share this with my team?
It's licensed for your own personal and professional use. The output it produces is yours to circulate. To put the Playbook itself in the hands of a whole team, email hello@authority.md about team licensing.
