End the engagement in thirty days, not in a slow fade.
A handover inventory, exit timeline, and the messages to send, built from the end date and what you hold on the client's behalf.
Client exits tend to go one of two ways. Everyone avoids the topic and logins, files, and invoices drift for months, or the last weeks turn sour because nobody planned the handover. The ending is the part of the relationship the client remembers.
Client Offboarding treats the exit as a short project. It lists everything to hand over, assigns each item an owner and a date, drafts the exit message, prepares three questions for a final call, and closes the financial and access loops. It ends with a closing note that leaves the door open without asking for work.
What it produces.
- →A handover inventory with owners and dates
- →An exit message confirming the timeline
- →Three questions and one off-limits topic for the final call
- →A checklist for the final invoice and access removal
- ✦Agency owners ending or losing a client engagement
- ✦Consultants wrapping up a long project
- ✦Freelancers handing work to an in-house team
This Playbook assumes the decision to end the engagement is already made. It does not include churn scoring, diagnosing why a client is leaving, or a retain-or-release judgment. The Client Risk Tool is for that: it reads a whole client book for disengagement signals and tells you which clients to fight for and which to let go.

How is this different from just asking Claude directly?
Asked cold, Claude writes a polite goodbye email. This builds the whole exit: an inventory of what you hold, dated owners, access removal, and a final-call plan, then checks that no item depends on one person's memory.
How is this different from a Tool?
Playbooks are systematically produced to a fixed template and priced accordingly ($12.99). Tools are hand-built, one at a time, and go deeper ($39 to $199). A Playbook gives you a reliable method for routine work; a Tool is for when the judgment matters more than the format.
Will this work with ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLMs?
Yes. You get a native Claude Skill (.zip) that auto-invokes in Claude, plus a plain .md you can paste into a ChatGPT Custom GPT, a Gemini system prompt, or any LLM. The procedure travels with the file.
Can I share this with my team?
