J.K. Rowling produced work that defined or redefined their medium through sustained attention to craft. J.K. Rowling's creative approach, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.

The world-building & narrative architecture framework distils J.K. Rowling's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.

Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions J.K. Rowling made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with J.K. Rowling's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of J.K. Rowling's thinking.

Core Philosophy

True world-building isn't decoration—it's infrastructure. Every magical rule, character backstory, and seemingly throwaway detail must serve the larger architectural vision while feeling lived-in and authentic. The audience should discover depth organically, not have it explained to them.

The brief

A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.

Take the client only if you can name what it builds. A large, difficult account is never just revenue. It is a plot device, and every plot device has to earn its place in the structure of the company you are writing. Ask what this client plants now that pays off in eighteen months: a reference that opens doors, a capability you were going to have to build anyway, a case study that makes the next five sales easier. If the answer is "cash flow," that is a thin reason to accept difficulty, because cash is the one thing you can find elsewhere.

Then look at the difficulty itself, because it is information. Difficult clients rarely surprise you. The friction you see in the sales process (scope that keeps shifting, decisions that take weeks, a champion with no real authority) is the same friction that will run your delivery. Treat the courtship as the first chapter of the relationship, not a prelude to it.

My position: accept, but only on terms that cap the damage. Limit this client to a fixed share of revenue, say 30 percent, so one bad quarter cannot rewrite your whole story. Get scope and change-order rules in writing before kickoff.

Next move: before you sign, draft the contract's change-control clause and send it to them this week. Their reaction to a boundary will tell you everything the pitch meetings did not.

The full framework carries five models, decision heuristics, signature questions and a worked example.
