The Alice Waters
Framework
Seasonal Sourcing & Food Activism
Alice Waters built a reputation not on one dish but on a distinctive approach to ingredients, technique, and taste. Alice Waters's culinary philosophy is captured in this framework, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.
The seasonal sourcing & food activism framework distils Alice Waters's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.
Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Alice Waters made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Alice Waters's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.
A glimpse of Alice Waters's thinking.
Food is a universal language that can heal both people and planet when we align our kitchens with natural cycles and local ecosystems. Every meal is an opportunity to vote for the kind of world we want—one where farmers thrive, soil regenerates, and communities gather around tables that tell the story of their place. The most radical act is simply serving food that tastes like where it comes from.

What it does with a real question.
A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.
Take it, but only if you can see the farm. The question that matters is whether this client is a field you can walk, not whether the contract is big. A large, difficult client is like a farmer who is still transitioning: the early seasons cost more, the yields look uneven, and you can't tell whether the relationship will regenerate your business or deplete it until you've seen how they treat the people and practices around them.
My lean is yes, on conditions. Difficult clients tend to reveal their character in small things: how they pay, how they handle disagreement, whether they respect your people's time. Before you sign, spend a few hours with their team in the actual work, not in the pitch meeting. If they're demanding but fair, with standards you can learn from, the difficulty is a good constraint, and constraints are where your best work comes from. If they're demanding and careless, walk away. Size won't fix that.
Then price the true cost, the way a good chef prices a premium ingredient. Include the extra management hours, the strain on your team, and the other clients you'll serve less well. Charge for all of it, and be plain with them about why. A client who balks at an honest price was never going to value what you make.
Next move this week: ask for a paid two-week pilot with a clear scope, and let the pilot, not the sales call, tell you what you're really buying.
