A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.
Take the client only if you can name the system that makes them difficult. Most founders treat a "difficult" client as a character flaw in the customer, then absorb the pain through heroics: late nights, special handling, a favorite engineer who always rescues the account. That is how a company learns nothing while spending a great deal.
Your real question is not whether this client is hard. It is whether the difficulty comes from stable, knowable causes or from erratic ones. Scope that shifts every week, approvals that arrive in unpredictable bursts, and requirements nobody can state in advance are structural. If you sign without redesigning how work enters your company, you will be firefighting variation you built into the contract, then blaming your team for results the arrangement itself guaranteed. Large revenue also makes it tempting to reward whoever heroically absorbs the chaos, which teaches everyone that chaos is acceptable.
My position: do not sign on the revenue alone. Sign only if the contract itself fixes the inputs: written acceptance criteria, a single decision-maker on their side, and a change process with a price attached. A client who refuses those terms is telling you the variation will land on you for free.
