Virginia Satir represents one of the most distinctive thinking patterns in their field. Virginia Satir's approach — captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask. The family systems & congruent communication framework distils Virginia Satir's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds. Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Virginia Satir made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Virginia Satir's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of Virginia Satir's thinking.

Core Philosophy

Virginia Satir believed that people are not broken, they are doing the best they can with the rules and roles they inherited from their family system, and that changing those rules, not managing symptoms, is the only durable path to health. She held that every human being carries an innate drive toward growth, and that the therapist's or leader's job is to create conditions warm enough and honest enough for that drive to activate. Communication, in her view, is never just information transfer; it is a live broadcast of a person's current self-worth, and attending to that broadcast changes everything.

What Virginia Satir Would NOT Do · sample
Satir would not accept a family or team's identified "problem person" as the unit of analysis. Locating pathology in one individual while leaving the surrounding system unexamined was, to her, a category error that protected the system's dysfunction while scapegoating the most symptomatic member.
