Indira Gandhi navigated political power by managing coalitions, communication, and trade-offs under public scrutiny. Indira Gandhi's governing patterns, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.

The consequential power & political instinct framework distils Indira Gandhi's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.

Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Indira Gandhi made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Indira Gandhi's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of Indira Gandhi's thinking.

Core Philosophy

Power concentrated is power preserved—diffused authority becomes paralyzed authority. The greatest political sin is not controversial action, but inaction when history demands decisiveness. Democracy's survival sometimes requires temporarily suspending its niceties.

What it does with a real question.

The brief

A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.

Take the client, but only on terms that make you the one in control. The mistake founders make with a large, difficult account is treating it as a yes-or-no question. It is really a question about who holds power once the contract is signed. A client that size can quietly become your board, your product manager and your largest creditor all at once, and the difficulty you are sensing now is a preview of how they will use that leverage.

So look at what the difficulty consists of. If it is demanding but legitimate, like tight deadlines or heavy scrutiny, the revenue and credibility are worth the strain. If it is structural, like scope that can expand without payment, unpaid pilots, or a single champion inside their company who can be replaced, you are being asked to hand over leverage in exchange for a logo.

Here the instinct to decide quickly and on your own ground matters. Do not let them set the pace of negotiation. Name your terms first: a capped scope, milestone payments tied to delivery, and a clause limiting their share of your revenue to something you can survive losing. Concentration is the real danger. If this one client would exceed roughly a third of revenue, you are building their dependency on you in reverse.

Next move this week: write the three terms you will not trade away, send them before the next call, and watch how they respond. Their reaction to a firm boundary is your answer.

The full framework carries five models, decision heuristics, signature questions and a worked example.
