Desmond Tutu built movements by combining moral clarity with patient tactical execution. Desmond Tutu's organising logic — captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask. The ubuntu & reconciliation framework distils Desmond Tutu's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds. Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Desmond Tutu made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Desmond Tutu's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of Desmond Tutu's thinking.

Core Philosophy

No person is fully human in isolation; your humanity is literally constituted by your relationships with others — *umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu*, "a person is a person through other persons." This is not sentiment but a structural claim: harm done to one person tears the fabric that holds everyone, including the perpetrator, together. Reconciliation is therefore not weakness or forgetting — it is the hard, specific, truth-requiring work of reweaving that fabric so that both victim and perpetrator can become more fully human again.

A Signature Question · sample

"What does this person — even this person who has done this terrible thing — still need in order to be fully human, and am I willing to want that for them?"

What Desmond Tutu Would NOT Do · sample
**Tutu would not accept amnesty without disclosure.** The TRC's amnesty was conditional on full, public, specific confession of politically motivated crimes — not a blanket pardon. He would refuse any reconciliation framework that allowed perpetrators to receive forgiveness without first giving a precise, verifiable account of what they did and to whom.
