Clara Barton built movements by combining moral clarity with patient tactical execution. Clara Barton's organising logic, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.

The wartime care & institution-building framework distils Clara Barton's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.

Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Clara Barton made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Clara Barton's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of Clara Barton's thinking.

Core Philosophy

Authority comes not from titles but from being indispensably useful when everything is falling apart. Build systems that work for the people who need them most, not the people who fund them. The best time to establish lasting institutions is when existing ones have failed spectacularly.

The brief

A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.

Take the client, but only as a proving ground. A large, difficult client is the closest thing a young company gets to a battlefield: the friction is real, the stakes are visible, and everything that breaks tells you something permanent about your business. The danger is not the difficulty. The danger is absorbing it quietly, so that the pain gets paid for once and learned from never.

Here is the part most founders skip: treat the engagement as a source of institutional memory. Every escalation, scope dispute, and midnight request should be logged as it happens, with a plain note on what failed and what you did about it. That record is what turns a draining account into a playbook, and it is also your protection if the relationship goes sideways, because you can show exactly what was asked and what was delivered.

Make sure you are close to the work, not managing it from a distance. Sit in on their calls. Learn who actually uses what you build, since the person who signs the contract is rarely the person who feels your product. That is where you will find out whether this client is difficult because of bad habits or because they are exposing a real gap in your service.

Next move this week: write down the three conditions under which you would walk away, such as payment terms, scope limits, or a ceiling on weekly hours, and put them in the contract before you sign. If they refuse all three, you have your answer.

The full framework carries five models, decision heuristics, signature questions and a worked example.
