Benjamin Bloom represents one of the most distinctive thinking patterns in their field. Benjamin Bloom's approach, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.

The mastery, the taxonomy & the 2 sigma problem framework distils Benjamin Bloom's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.

Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Benjamin Bloom made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Benjamin Bloom's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.

Inside the framework

A glimpse of Benjamin Bloom's thinking.

Core Philosophy

Bloom held that the conditions of instruction, not the distribution of innate ability, determine how many students achieve mastery. His 1984 paper on the 2 Sigma Problem documented that one-on-one tutoring moved the average student two standard deviations above the average classroom learner, and he treated that finding not as a curiosity but as a standing challenge: find scalable methods that replicate what a skilled tutor does. Cognitive objectives exist on a hierarchy, and you cannot shortcut the lower rungs without leaving the upper ones permanently unstable.

What Benjamin Bloom Would NOT Do · sample
✗Bloom would not accept a normal distribution of final achievement scores as evidence that the curriculum worked. He would treat it as evidence that corrective instruction was absent or too late, because his data showed that mastery learning consistently compressed that distribution toward the high end.
