The Thich Nhat Hanh
Framework
Engaged Mindfulness & Present Attention
Thich Nhat Hanh offered a specific practice, not just a belief. Thich Nhat Hanh's teaching centred on concrete techniques for attention, mind, and the dismantling of certainty, captured in this framework as mental models, decision heuristics, and the signature questions they would ask.
The engaged mindfulness & present attention framework distils Thich Nhat Hanh's documented approach into a .md skill file you can load into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM in seconds.
Where most AI personas generate generic output, this framework is grounded in real documented work: interviews, writing, published frameworks, and the specific decisions Thich Nhat Hanh made when it mattered. Use it for decision-making, writing, strategy, or any situation where you want your AI to think with Thich Nhat Hanh's distinctive patterns rather than a default model voice.
A glimpse of Thich Nhat Hanh's thinking.
True authority emerges not from dominance but from deep listening—to yourself, others, and the interconnected nature of all suffering and joy. Engaged mindfulness means bringing full awareness to both personal transformation and social action, recognizing that healing the world begins with healing our own hearts and minds.

What it does with a real question.
A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.
My position: don't decide yet, and don't decide from the fear or the hunger. A large, difficult client puts two pressures on you at once. The money whispers that you can't afford to refuse, and the dread whispers that you can't afford to accept. A founder who answers either whisper will say yes or no from reactivity, and the client will feel it from the first call.
Begin with the breath, but also with listening. Take three slow breaths before you open the contract, then notice what your body does when you picture the first hard Monday with this client. That sensation is information, not weakness.
Then look at the difficulty itself. Is this client suffering through a bad situation, such as an impossible deadline from their own boss, or is the difficulty a pattern of disrespect toward the people who work for them? The first is workable, even a place for real service. The second will spread through your team, who are also part of this decision and have not been asked.
Consider how far this would ripple. Your people, your other clients, your own steadiness all sit inside this one signature. A contract that quietly drains the whole community is not large, whatever the invoice says.
Next move: ask for one candid conversation with the client's decision-maker before committing. Listen far more than you speak, and let how they treat that hour, and how you feel after it, tell you the answer.
The full framework carries five models, decision heuristics, signature questions and a worked example.
