If it stays under that line and the difficulty is mostly process friction, the lessons and referenceability can be worth more than the margin.
The next move is concrete. Ask the client for two former vendors you can call, and ask those vendors one question: what happened in month four? That is where difficulty either reveals itself as a pattern or turns out to be a bad first impression. Decide after those calls, not before.
