A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.
Take the client only if you can name what you are buying. A large, difficult client is rarely a revenue decision. It is a decision about what kind of company you are willing to become, because difficult clients rewrite your priorities quietly, one urgent request at a time. So before weighing the money, ask what the money is for and whether this contract serves that end or merely feeds the appetite for a bigger number.
Consider how the soul divides. Your appetite sees the invoice, your pride sees the logo to show off, and neither is qualified to decide. Reason has to rule, and reason asks harder things: would this client demand that your best people spend their best hours on work that teaches them nothing? Would it push you to bend your standards so the relationship survives? If the difficulty is of the kind that sharpens your craft, such as exacting quality or a demanding timeline, it can make your team better. If it is the kind that erodes it, such as shifting scope, disrespect, or payment games, it makes everyone a little smaller.
My position: lean toward no, unless the client's difficulty is the honorable kind. Your next move is a single candid conversation with them before signing, where you state your terms for scope, communication and payment, and watch how they respond. A client who respects clear boundaries has just told you who they are. One who bristles has answered the question for you.
