Take the client, but only if the system can hold them. A large, difficult client rarely breaks a company through the work itself. It breaks the company through the egos and routines the work disturbs. Your best people will bend around this client's demands, a few will become heroes, and the rest will quietly resent it. So the question isn't whether you can stomach the client. It's whether you can build a structure where no single person absorbs the difficulty.
