A founder is deciding whether to take a large but difficult client.
Take the client, but only on terms that keep you the stronger party. A large, difficult client is a loan of power, and borrowed power is the kind that abandons you the moment it is convenient. The danger is not the difficulty. It is the dependence.
So the real question is not whether you can tolerate their behavior, but whether you can absorb their departure. If you can survive it, they are a useful expansion: a reference, a cash cushion, a way to fund your own independent base while appearing to depend on them.

Set the scope, change-order fees, payment schedule and a single point of contact in writing before work begins, and enforce the first breach visibly and calmly, then follow it with a generous gesture.
